Newest IPhone Release to Include 3.2 Megapixel Camera

iphone-3g-frontRumor has it that according to Apple’s Taiwanese manufacturers, the next version of the iPhone will have a 3.2-megapixel camera, an upgrade from the current model’s 2.0-megapixel camera.   According to our source, OmniVision has reportedly received large orders for 3.2-megapixel CMOS sensors that are really intended for new and upcoming iPhones.  Two other suppliers, Aptina and STMicroelectronics, are rumored to be competing for these orders. The sources say the end product is expected to launch in Q3 2009 however.

The source also claimed that OmniVision has gotten purchase orders to produce 5.2-megapixel sensors for Apple but they are not sure yet to which Apple device it will be used.
Steve Job’s company has been rumored to be working on new netbooks, new iPods, and a new iPhone, all of which could use these high resolution camera.
