SONY BRAVIA KDL-52XBR7 AND KLV-40ZX1M REVIEW

Sony today announced new US additions to its BRAVIA line a 240kHz frame rate 52-inch LCD TV, and a 40 inch LCD set measuring only 9.9mm (0.4 inches) thick.

The BRAVIA KDL-52XBR7 52 inch LCD TV features 240kHz frame rate “Motionflow” up-scaling, pushing forward a feature that many companies are choosing to include in displays. A processor interpolates extra frames in between what the source signal actually produces, claimed to smooth the motion in fast-paced video such as sports games.

Sony has also included “Advanced Contrast Enhancer” (ACE) technology to bring the contrast ratio up to 80,000:1 and BRAVIA Engine 2 processing to bring all input signals up to 1080p. Four 1080/60 24p HDMI inputs are provided, two 1080/60p HD component inputs, a 1080/60p PC input, and an Ethernet port.

Sony’s KLV-40ZX1M is based closely on its European counterpart and achieves a thickness of just 9.9mm despite a screen size of 40 inches. HD resolution of 1080p is supported with an edge-lit, wide color gamut LED backlight. Motionflow technology converts signal frame rates up to 120Hz. The monitor also offers BRAVIA Engine 2, one HDMI input, and BRAVIA Wireless Link that will allow HD transmission without a cable.
